親の深い愛情と、小さな命の強さ
昔から日本では、赤ちゃんのことを「みどりご」と呼びました。
その意味は、生まれたばかりの子供は、新芽や若葉のように生命力に溢れていることから喩えられたそうです。
作品に刻まれた詩文は、羽仁もと子さんの「今、生まれしみどり児」という詩を作品用にアレンジしたものです。
赤ちゃんを手にした親の深い愛情と、生まれ出た小さな命が懸命に生きようとする強さを感じます。
とても強い言魂を持った詩文なので、優しい蓮の花の写真をベースとしました。
蓮の花びらに、生まれたばかりの「みどり児」を彫り刻みました。
裏から光をあてると、命の鼓動が聞こえてきそうな気がしてくるから不思議です。
